Tour of the Jojoba Hills Clubhouse Complex
![]()
Our
Clubhouse complex facilities are all wheelchair accessible. The
main room of the Clubhouse complex is Friendship Hall. The hall
measures 49 feet by 77 feet and will hold all of the members for a
meeting or social event. The south end of the room is lit with a
stained glass window, created by a volunteer several years ago. The
room has a sound system, sound absorbing ceiling and wall treatment,
an organ, a player piano, and stage. The Hilltoppers, our social
activities organization, recently purchased new, round tables
for meals, games and conversation in the hall.
Many
group activites are scheduled for Friendship Hall, including
committee meetings, social hours, dancing lessons, meals, aerobics,
and games. Many card and tile games including Mah Jongg are played
every day and in the evening there are often larger groups playing
Hand and Foot, Pokeno, or some other game of skill or chance.
Next
to Friendship Hall is the commercial kitchen where many great meals
have been prepared. The volunteer cooks also bake cookies and make
coffee to take to the members working on projects throughout the
park, and on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, ice cream is served to
the membership.
Large
crafts and sewing rooms are located in the main building. Here you
will find classes in various kinds of crafts as well as different
people making their crafty wares. At least once a year there is a
crafts sale to benefit the Hilltoppers and help pay for equipment and
supplies for these rooms.
One of the four laundries on the resort grounds is located in the main building. This gives members the opportunity to do their daily chores while participating in activities at the Clubhouse.
The
annex building next to Friendship Hall contains the resort's post
office, with a lockbox assigned to each site. Volunteers sort the
mail each day when it arrives from the Aguanga Post Office. However,
Jojoba Hills SKP Resort does not act as a Mail Receiving/Forwarding
Agency like Escapees in Livingston where the mail is collected and
then sent in bulk when you call and ask for it. If a member is going
to be out of the park, they supply address labels to the resort post
office and their first class mail will be forwarded as directed on
the labels. The resort post office has no provision to receive mail
for guests. Guests can use General Delivery at the Aguanga post
office just down the road.
The
cardroom in the annex is equipped for a variety of card games. On
the west side is the "Wall of Fame" showing pictures of
everyone in the park on a map of the sites. It is useful for relating
member name to site.
The
billiard room contains three pocket billiard tables where members
meet from time to time to practice their shark skills, not to say any
one of them is a pool shark. But be careful before you challenge any
of the women to a game of pool. There are some very talented ladies
in this resort.
An
exercise room with a fine selection of equipment is available in the
annex to all members and guests. Much of this equipment was donated
when new members arrived and still had their exercise equipment in
storage. Much better to put it to use in the exercise room. The
equipment in this room along with the hills throughout the resort
keep most of the members in good physical shape, all things
considered. Next to the exercise room and pool are the men's and
women's restrooms, each complete with showers and a sauna.
The library lounge in the annex has an excellent
selection of current books and magazines and a large selection of
video VHS tapes and a growing DVD collection. Members can check out
these materials and take them back to their rigs, or they can enjoy
them in the quiet of the reading room. The centerpiece of this room
is the large display cabinet built by members where the fine
collections of other members are shown, ranging from sea shells to
dolls to antique figurines to indian articrafts.
